PT-Intern, Accounts Payable

Part-time student opportunities allow undergraduate and graduate students to schedule their work around their classes. These roles are available in both the office, customer service centers, and in the production environment. This program will allow students to gain experience working in a business/manufacturing environment while maintaining their full time academic commitments.

This part time work can be done throughout the student’s matriculation at college/university with the options for extended work hours during the summer months. Student are eligible for part time opportunities after the completion of their freshman year and can work until graduation. Students must be within a commutable distance of the Southwire location to participate in the Part Time Student Program.

The Intern position provides support for Shared Financial Services, led by the Accounts Payable Supervisor. The interns serve as a departmental liaison with internal and external customers and contributes to the shared department responsibility of the daily management of general mailboxes, AP processes, and assisting in any special projects as they arise.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides daily internal and external customer support via the SFS call-in number
  • Provides daily internal and external customer support via management of departmental general mailboxes
  • Updates department members with daily process reporting and analytics of department workflow
  • Using critical thinking skills and full engagement, provides process improvement feedback to management on an ongoing basis
  • Participates in and leads departmental Huddle meetings
  • Other duties/projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be currently enrolled in College – 4 year University or Technical College
  • Must have good organizational skills and able to work without close supervision
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong proficiency in Excel
  • Well organized and capable of effective multi-tasking
  • Ability to work 29 hours per week
