General Summary/Overview:

This position is intended for a technician who can perform basic biomedical engineering tasks in a supported laboratory setting. The position requires an individual capable of performing base routine experiments as well as working with senior postdoctoral fellows to achieve engineering goals, including assembly, testing of prototype devices. A Bachelor's degree level of biomedical engineering, electrical engineering or similar background with some college research experience is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Basic engineering, assembly, and testing tasks as directed by senior lab members including research fellows, instructors, and faculty to achieve engineering goals
  • Biomedical engineering tasks include preparation of instruments and equipment, following protocols for building (soldering, assembling PCBs) and testing devices, working with senior fellows to perform device design and problem solving.
  • Maintains laboratory notebook
  • Understands and applies basic scientific techniques
  • May perform independent literature searches
  • Sets up and prepares routine experiments as directed
  • Conducts analysis of results and may begin interpretation of results
  • Assists with organizing materials for publication or presentation
  • Maintains and orders supplies

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks independently
  • Bachelor's Degree level ability in biomedical engineering.
  • Printed circuit board design, assembly
  • Must be able to assemble, test, and validate prototype medical devices based on direction by senior lab members
  • Must be able to work within an interdisciplinary team

Qualifications
Education:

Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar field is required.

Experience:

Prior research experience in biomedical engineering at the level of college research experience is required.
