Job/Internship Description
Description

Applied Research Associates (ARA) is actively seeking qualified interns to join our Military Operations and Systems group working with the augmented reality team. We are looking for a high-school-level technically skilled individual with experience in mechanical assembly and video recording and editing. Though we do value specific skillsets in candidates, the most important characteristics are passion, raw talent, and a "fire in the belly." If this sounds like you then we want to hear about it!

We are looking for high-school-level candidates with an interest in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, etc.). Some experience with mechanical assembly and video recording and editing would be very useful. Experience with military protective gear (combat helmets and vests) will also be valuable.

Candidates selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Please note that this position is an unpaid internship.

These positions will place you with a cross-functional team of engineers and scientists supporting the development of integrated wearable augmented reality systems. Our culture encourages personal and professional growth by pushing the limits of technology while creating opportunities for cross-training and mentoring within the team. Here are some of the activities you could expect to perform on a daily basis:

  • Clean and organize lab storage for electronics and mechanical hardware
  • Support marketing of augmented reality systems with recording and editing video
  • Support testing, evaluation, and demonstrations of augmented reality systems in laboratory and field environments
  • Take on new challenges and learn new skills to enhance electronic system performance in previously unanticipated ways
