Position Summary: The O.R. Surgical Technologist First Assistant functions as the surgeons' assistant, working directly under his/her supervision throughout the procedures. The O.R. Surgical Technologist First Assistant will assist the nurse, surgeon, anesthesiologist and/or CRNA in the care of patients in the preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative phase. Surgical Technologist First Assistants possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies to facilitate a physicians' performance in invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Assignment to this position is made according to training and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Graduate of a surgical technology accredited surgical assisting program, as well as CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs).

- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification.

- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire.

- Three (3) years of progressive clinical scrub experience in a CST role.
