Provides Social Services to all patients and families. As a member of the treatment team(s) and the unit, is responsible for providing a broad range of treatment and rehabilitation activities for the population served.

Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Master's Degree in related field.

2. WV Licensure in field of study (will consider WV License eligible candidates who have been unable to gain license as a result of temporary closure of testing centers due to circumstances such as pandemic), which permits practicing psychotherapy:

LGSW, LCSW or LICSW or a temporary Social Work permit and must obtain permanent licensure within the first six months of employment;

OR

LPC or provisional licensure certificate;

OR

Supervised-Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist;

OR

Nurse Practitioner with Advanced Certification in psychiatric nursing.

3. Valid driver's license for employees of the Adolescent Services, Day Hospital and ACT.

4. West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal, if applicable, required for DHHR regulated area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Advanced certification preferred when applicable.

2. Obtain certification in HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Prior experience in a mental health program preferred.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.Other duties may be assigned.

1. Participates as an integral professional member of an interdisciplinary treatment team led by a physician.

2. Participates as clinical personnel in a treatment area and facilitates therapeutic milieu on the treatment unit, when applicable.

3. Provides direct one-on-one age specific psychotherapy services to patients when requested via specific program requirements.

4. Assists medical staff in determining appropriateness of services and receives referral forintervention.

5. Determines the developmental age (level of development) of the patient and assists the treatment team in the development and implementation of a treatment plan specific with developmental needs and/or required intervention.

6. Assesses psychosocial needs, including assessing for high-risk indicators and documents obtainment of psychosocial history/assessment.

7. Correlates all assembled data on the psychosocial history in a manner that is clinically pertinent to the individual patient.

8. Performs continued-care planning as developed with the treatment team from first day of services.

9. Provides group therapy as deemed appropriate.

10. Acts as liaison for patients and their families to various community agencies, consultants, and services.

11. Records and charts all patient contacts as required.

12. Provides direct family therapy to patients and their families as directed by treatment planning and program requirements.

13. Maintains appropriate certification, licensure and competency through supervision and/or training and successful completion of annual performance evaluations.

14. Attends continuing education seminars and in-services as necessary to maintain professional licensure, competency, and to meet hospital required educational standards.

15. Adheres to performance expectations of WVUH-CRC employees.
