Operates switchboard, relaying incoming, outgoing and inter-hospital telephone calls.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma or GED

1. Previous PBX experience preferred

1. Politely and promptly answers incoming calls and directs calls to requested extension.

2. Fulfills special assigned duties for the following "code" calls as per standard or p/p.

  • Code Blue & Code Blue Broselow
  • Rapid Response
  • Code Triage
  • Code Red
  • Code Black
  • Code Orange
  • Code Gray
  • Code Weather
  • Code Amber
  • Code Walker

3. Demonstrates the ability to use HBOC system efficiently to perform the following tasks:

  • On-line look of patient census information as per HBOC procedure.
  • Print patient census information as per HBOC p/p.
  • Comply with UHC computer security policy.

4. Demonstrates the ability to use hospital's overhead paging system per p/p.

5. Demonstrates the ability to use hospital's beeper system.

6. Demonstrates the ability to use the Code Spear Smart Message system.

7. Demonstrates the ability to contact Home Health and People's Hospice after hours.

8. Demonstrates the ability to do the daily on-call sheet and sign the physician out in the computer.

9. Must be capable of using computers to input and retrieve information.

10. Provides call assistance to staff physicians by beeping, paging, or taking messages in accordance with hospital policy.

11. Demonstrates the ability to contact Security via the radio system as per standard.

12. Uses switchboard efficiently as per manual policy and procedure.

13. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate to the infant,pediatric, adolescent,adult,geriatric patient per the established age-specific education/ standard.

4. Visual acuity must be within normal range.

5. Must have reading and comprehension ability.

6. Must have the ability to move freely through the facility to perform daily and special tasks.
