Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety. The radiologic technologist performs radiographic examinations as requested with routine views as prescribed in the department procedure manual. The technologist will assist the radiologist/surgeon during fluoroscopic/CT procedures as requested, if properly trained in this area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school graduate

2. Graduate from AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, either college affiliated or hospital trained.

3. Certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and licensed by the state of WV

4. CT certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

1. Knowledge of radiographic examinations as well as procedures that require the use of contrast agent.

2. Knowledge of radiographic equipment operation and radiation safety.

3. Knowledge of positioning techniques and patient transfer.

4. Ability to handle multiple tasks/project and meet deadlines.

5. Demonstration of ethical and professional conduct.

6. Responsive for safe handling of equipment and DR cassettes.

7. Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shield patients accordingly.

8. Have knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of the other departments.

9. Completes in-services

10. Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.

11. Instructs and prepares patients forreentgenographicand/or fluoroscopic examinations.

12. Assessespatient's understandingof process and informed consent of invasive procedures.

13. Verifies pregnancy.

14. Documents consent for IV contrast.

15. Takes x-ray, CT, US after department hours, if qualified to do so.

16. Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel.

17. Understand DR equipment.

18. Verifies exam orders.

19. Reports to work on time as scheduled.

20. Meets dress code and wears identification while on duty.
