Clinical Child Psychologist

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Behavioral Medicine are seeking several Clinical Child Psychologists (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidates will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, as services are expected to expand. In such instances, travel would be anticipated, and expected, to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Clinical Child Psychology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching graduate students, interns, and post-doctoral fellows.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an PhD or PsyD degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for a state medical license. Applicants must have a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology from an APA/CPA-accredited graduate program with an APA/CPA-approved internship and post-doctoral training in neurodevelopmental disabilities. Applicant must be immediately eligible for licensure in West Virginia. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Duties Include:

The position will include clinical, teaching/supervision, and research responsibilities. The successful candidate will have a background in assessment and treatment of a wide range of interrelated biological, psychological, and social problems experienced by children and adolescents. Regarding clinical duties, the candidate will have the opportunity to provide service delivery to infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents displaying a variety of psychological, behavioral, developmental, academic, family, peer, and health-related difficulties, primarily in an outpatient setting. Additional opportunities to develop specialty clinics may exist, depending on interest and expertise.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting psychoeducational and other assessments as part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary clinical team

  • Authoring comprehensive reports

  • Collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to communicate evaluation findings to guide treatment

  • Involvement with our well-known, training-focused APA-accredited clinical psychology internship and our Neurodevelopmental/Pediatric Neuropsychology fellowship

Successful applicants should meet the following qualifications:

  • PhD or PsyD in psychology/school psychology/neuropsychology or related field

  • Licensed or Eligible for Licensure in West Virginia and through PsyPact

  • Experience conducting psychoeducational assessments

  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong work ethic

  • Highest professional and ethical standards

The Division of Child Neurology joins in the collaborative efforts of the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) Innovation Center, which is made up of a team of 280 dedicated faculty in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology, and Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry. RNI provides compassionate patient care and advanced medicine through education, research, and outreach in the many diverse communities we serve. The Institute spearheads efforts to develop innovative solutions for neurological and psychiatric conditions across the lifespan. The WVU NDC is a part of the WVU Children's Neuroscience Center and is dedicated to providing care to improve the lives of children of West Virginia. Our team includes: neurology, developmental behavioral pediatrics, psychology, neuropsychology, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and rehabilitation therapy (PT, OT, and SLT).
