POSITION SUMMARY

Provides for the safety of the guests, employees, and material assets of the resort.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

This position is responsible for the following job results.

  • Coordinates and oversees all operations of the department, including but not limited to, loss prevention and control, traffic management and incident investigation/documentation.
  • Oversees that crime and incidents are prevented by ensuring that visible patrols (Foot and Vehicle) are completed.
  • Providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities to employees.
  • Investigate and document crimes/incidents.
  • Provide follow through and final resolutions of crimes/incidents.
  • Oversees that all doors, windows, gates and buildings are secured.
  • Overseeing that staff is troubleshooting malfunctions, maintaining applicable equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Ensuring that maintenance is being recorded on all applicable equipment and systems.
  • Coordinating with necessary contractors.
  • Prevent and intervene in confrontations.
  • Ensure proper training is completed by the department.
  • Ensure that everyone in the department knows the importance of safety.
  • Assigning duties to the Supervisors as needed
  • Overseeing stock to determine inventory levels and anticipating needed supplies while staying within budget.
  • Ensuring that timecards are signed off on by deadline to ensure proper payroll.
  • Ensuring proper labor management techniques.
  • Ensuring that all required trainings are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure security of resort money including the transport of such money.
  • Ensure that security is provided while transporting mail to and from the US Post Office.
  • Coaching, counseling, disciplining, monitoring, and appraising employees.
  • Monitoring the budgets and comparing budget, actual and forecast to meet company EBIDA goals.
  • Flexes and adapts the budgets to business changes/demands.
  • Documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Resolving issues brought up by your department supervisors.
  • Staging departmental meetings, one on one meetings with your direct reports
  • Fostering a spirit of cooperation among all departments
  • Complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Direct field operations include making decisions in the field concerning how to proceed in the face of changing conditions as they impact operations.
  • Oversee that applicable documents are completed. These include but are not limited to incident and accident reports, disciplinary reports.
  • Oversee the Key Control/issuance and the Key database.
  • Ensures the functionality of fire and intrusion alarms.
  • Ensures the functionality and inspections of fire suppression systems.
  • Ensure the Weather is recorded each day and statistics are sent to NWS

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers, and management consistent with Snowshoe's service excellence standards.
  • Ability to problem-solve in a highly effective manger and maintain positive relationships with guests and staff, including management, subordinates and co-workers.
  • Knowledge of the overall public safety area operation
  • Ability to interact, guide, and influence multiple departments.
  • Must meet Snowshoe Mountain minimum driving standards and have current driver's license, a successful motor vehicle record, background check is required.
  • Must be computer literate and be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs.
  • Must meet the qualifications of the West Virginia Security Guard License signee.


DIRECT EXPERIENCE

Education: Associate's Degree or 5 years of experience in a related field

Experience: 2 years related field and 2 years of management experience

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Any employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the Driver's Standards Policy. This policy also applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip. All drivers should receive a full copy of the Alterra Driver's Standards Policy; if you have not - please contact your Risk/Safety or HR/EE Department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will require you to work late evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Office Environment:
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices, and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, and pulling on an occasional basis.

Mountain Environment:
  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultraviolet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes are produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
