The Opportunity

The Capabilities and Platforms (C&P) team within our Work Management organization has an exciting opportunity to support critical, cross-functional initiatives across TC Energy. The C&P team is primarily responsible for developing and implementing sustainable business strategies with a focus on work management systems, platforms, tools, and change management.

In this role, you will be a part of a collaborative team that values creativity, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for managing and leading a team of employees who work to sustain and develop the platforms and tools that power the TC Energy Work Management team, focusing on developing the underlying components to ensure they meet users' needs. This role entails deep Line of Business and user interactions via feedback design sessions and will require significant cross pollination with the other product teams in the program.

Working as the bridge between end-users and the development team, this role will communicate the voice of the users, inform the product roadmap, articulate new features and enhancements to stakeholders, coordinate the successful implementation of product releases, and support ongoing product use while ensuring focus on the program's strategic vision and goals. The position is in Houston, TX or Charleston, WV.

What you'll do

Team leadership:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team supporting the organization's business process modeling tools (BlueWorx) and SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM) functions
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages open communication and continuous improvement
  • Conduct regular team meetings to share updates and address challenges
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members
  • Identify areas for skill development and implement training programs to enhance team's capabilities

Operational excellence:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand their needs; develop and execute sustainable implementation strategies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and technology partners to define software requirements, create technical specifications, and execute against our strategic vision
  • Develop user journeys and other artifacts that help communicate, and rally support for, intuitive user experiences that best meet the needs of the platforms' users
  • Identify critical dependencies, and other issues and present recommendations for resolution
  • Maintain ongoing proactive partnership with technology team members to ensure business demands are understood and delivered in an agile manner within agreed upon timeframes
  • Ensure user feedback is incorporated into roadmaps, ensuring deliverables meet business needs
  • Support client and practitioner adoption of new features/functionality
  • Contribute to our High-Performance Culture by challenging the way we work and providing recommendations for improvement
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and tools, and assess their relevance to our strategic vision
  • Propose and champion the adoption of innovative technologies, frameworks, and methodologies that can improve our product offering to stakeholders

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
  • Minimum eight years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years of experience leading a team
  • This position requires excellent technical, analytical, and influencing skills, paired with experience in product management or user experience at an energy, technology, or related firm
  • Self-starter, able thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative and cross-functional environment that is results-driven
  • Creative problem solver, capable of developing innovative and differentiated solutions
  • Logical thinker with ability to identify and articulate rationale, assumptions, and risks
  • Superior judgment to mitigate risk and foster an environment where risk/control issues are escalated, and creative solutions are identified
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with ability to establish trust and credibility across senior stakeholders, lines of business and functions
  • Ability to manage, attract, develop, and retain top talent; open to giving and receiving feedback
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills with ability to objectively prioritize
  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate technical topics to a non-technical audience and business needs to a technical audience
  • Established track record of delivering results in a complex environment
  • Must possess the following functional competencies: Business Analysis, Management Information Systems, Project Management, and Strategy Development, Business Planning & Implementation
  • Must exhibit and incorporate into work practices the TC Energy core values: Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, Responsibility, Innovation

Preferred qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a business or technical field preferred
  • An understanding of the natural gas business
  • Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM)
  • Experience with business process modeling tools (i.e., BlueWorx)
  • Passion for driving toward an excellent client experience; UI/UX/design experience a significant plus
