Key member of the Department of Medicine's leadership team comprised of Chairman, Vice Chairs, Section Chiefs, Department Administrator and Associate Administrators. Provides management and coordination of all financial and operational matters for designated sections in the Department, which includes up to three sections.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's Degree in business administration, human resources, management or other related field.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years of progressive administrative experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

1. Supervisory experience preferred.

2. Two (2) years of progressive administrative experience preferably in an academic clinical environment or a combination of experience and advanced Education.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Responsible for the financial management of assigned sections in the Department of Medicine, which may include UHA, WVUH, WVU, WVU Research Corporation or WVU Foundation.

2. Responsible for preparing the UHA and WVUH budgets for designated sections under the direction of the Section Chief and Department Administrator. Manages section budgets and prepares monthly variance reports. Makes recommendations for resolutions to budget variances. Advises Section Chief of funding sources available for projects or unbudgeted expenses.

3. Responsible for managing the sections' external contracts for medical directorships, physician or staff services, leased space or equipment. Negotiates terms, monitor payment, and ensures fulfillment of Sections' contractual obligations.

4. Ensures section spending is within budget, as well as compliant with applicable policies, procedures or fund restrictions. Approves sections' requests for payment, credit card transactions, purchase orders, etc. Must be able to interpret and apply applicable policies for WVUH, UHA, WVU, WVU Research Corporation and WVU Foundation.

5. Manages support staff assigned in designated sections. Responsible for ensuring sections have appropriate staffing levels to provide needed support to section members. Responsible for recruitment, staff development, performance evaluation, directs work assignments and scheduling, corrective actions including termination. Human Resources may include WVUH, UHA, WVU or WVU Research Corp employees. Must be able to develop full understanding and interpretation of HR policies and procedures of applicable entities for assigned sections.

6. Responsible for coordination of Advance Practice Professionals (APP) in assigned sections, in partnership with Section Chief and/or supervising physician. Ensures APP maintains appropriate hospital privileges and licensures required to practice at assigned clinical sites. Works with Section Chiefs to establish annual APP goals, monitors progress and evaluates completion. Prepares annual APP evaluations with supervising physician.

7. Approves sections' payroll (WVU, WVUH, UHA and WVU Research Corp). Ensures time is reported appropriately and resolves discrepancies.

8. Serves as immigration liaison with WVU Medicine Legal Services and WVU Office of International Students and Scholars. Prepares sponsorship documents on behalf of department for faculty requiring employer visa sponsorship.

9. Identifies opportunities to improve ambulatory access as well as opportunities to expand or start new clinical services. Analyzes provider clinic schedules to maximize utilization and new patient appointment opportunities. Ensures provider clinics are appropriate with the individual's clinical assignment ("cfte"). Coordinates new clinic initiatives for assigned sections.

10. Prepares monthly financial and dashboard reports for designated sections.

3. May require minimal presence at offsite clinic locations for meetings.
