SUMMARY

Inspect lenses that come from the Surface Department before finish blocking or AR.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Duties

  • Spot lenses to check power and prism.
  • Inspects and pad block on lens using blocking equipment
  • Operates edging equipment to edge lenses to proper specifications.
  • Use buffer to polish edges of lenses before mounting.
  • Clean and inserts ophthalmic lenses into ophthalmic frame.
  • Using a lensometer, check lens attributes against established standards.
  • Verify lens treatments and proper frame alignment against the prescription.

Additional duties as assigned by Production Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • The ability to communicate openly with others and work as a team.
  • Must be able to work overtime or flexible shifts when needed.
  • Must be able to follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to understand and implement work instructions.
  • Must be able to understand basic job work tickets.
  • The ability to do simple/basic math
  • Work without supervision

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arm, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to manipulate, handle or feel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Safety Requirements

  • Basic understanding of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program and the Hazard Communication Program.
  • Closed toe shoe required with heel support
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment may require P.P.E.
  • Safety glasses and long sleeve shirts may be required where needed.
