Role Description

The GDE Manufacturing Engineering team, part of the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering group at Form, is instrumental in defining, designing, and deploying manufacturing equipment from prototypes to high-volume manufacturing and is invaluable to Form delivering and scaling our technology.

Form Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Manufacturing Engineer in Weirton, WV, and will report to the team's Senior Manager. The focus of this role is on the development and automation of Form's highest volume line to date, delivering high-budget, high-volume processes at new production facilities. You can expect to work closely with industrial engineers, equipment design engineers, cell design engineers, material scientists, supply chain, operations, facilities, and machine vendors as we design, build, and ramp up equipment operations.

This opportunity is based out of Form Energy's Weirton, WV facility. Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:
  • Conceptualize, Model and build specifications for Form's next-gen high volume Manufacturing line. Develop automated manufacturing techniques for a wide variety of operations

  • Apply industry standards and best practices to deliver world class, safe, efficient processes that meet targets for quality and cost.

  • Partner with process engineering and R&D to validate first-in-kind production methods.

  • Work with our supply chain team to identify and partner with OEMs

  • Perform DFM (design for manufacturing) assessments in partnership with Form's battery component design teams

  • Plan and execute on GDE-specific factory layout challenges

  • Detailed estimates and budgets as needed to set capital targets for the program

  • Be a champion for safety in the development of new equipment and processes

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field

  • Proven experience in a pilot line or manufacturing NPI environment with 10+ years of experience, depending on one's level of education

  • Experience in the design and operation of automated equipment for material handling and processing

  • Experience in a variety of common manufacturing technologies, which may include roll- to-roll processing, bulk material handling, thermal processing, drying, ultrasonic welding, laser welding, and others.

  • Experience designing and modeling full production lines from Raw Material to Finished Goods.

  • Well-developed collaboration skills and experience leading project execution in cross-functional teams

  • Familiarity with Industrial robotics and automation
