The Associate Vice President, Ambulatory Operations (Shared Services) is responsible for the efficient operations of shared services among WVU Medicine SMG, WVUH/UHA and UHA East Ambulatory Services. Ambulatory Services include all free-standing clinics and Hospital-based clinics for large multi-specialty groups.

This position provides executive leadership and direction to Ambulatory Services with an emphasis on business development, clinical integration, and oversight of financial and operational functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's degree in healthcare or business administration.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Ten (10) years of experience in progressive management and results-oriented experience in a multi-specialty group practice.

1. Master's degree in healthcare or business administration. Master's degree preferred.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by the employee assigned to this position. 1. Develops and fosters effective collaboration between WVUH/UHA/SMG clinical departments and divisions to ensure an integrated approach to providing services and fulfilling the organizations clinical goals and objectives.

2. Responsible for establishing and implementation of a comprehensive patient quality and safety plan along with monitoring and reporting of outcomes for WVUH/UHA/SMG working in collaboration with the CMO other institution leaders.

3. Works collaboratively with the CMO of WVUH/UHA/SMG to develop and implement new provider initiatives.

4. Develops a plan, along with revenue cycle, to improve coding services, revenue enhancements and strategic initiatives to enhance provider coding for WVU/UHA and SMG.

5. Works directly with IT to assure accurate provider information is entered in EPIC for the SER and grouper fields reflecting accurate reporting.

6. Reviews financial reports for WVUH/UHA/SMG and advises the CMO on monthly findings.

7. Reviews all policies for WVUH/UHA/SMG and advises the CMO on any changes or new implementations/recommendations.

8. Works directly with the CMO and UHA Chairs to provide guidance on physician integration with requests for assisting other system hospitals for provider services or program reviews.

9. Responsible for full development of personnel including recruiting and career advancement.

10. Acts as a liaison for WVUH/UHA/SMG clinics on marketing, legal, human resources, regional administrators, and finance.

11. Through the Ambulatory Shared Services structure, provides management oversight for the development of high quality, patient centered, cost-effective and integrated clinical programs and services.

12. Reviews and develops future patient experience initiatives and clinical needs to serve the WVUH/UHA/SMG community.

13. Selects, hires, terminates, manages, and evaluates the effectiveness of employees on a continuous basis to optimize productivity.

14. Establishes goals and provides follow-up within established human resources policies. Ensures compliance with policies and ensures staff meets the established access and service standards.

15. Oversight of regulations and standards issued by the government/regulatory agencies and third-party payers; implements organizational changes, as required, ensuring organizational compliance.

16. Reviews key performance indicators (quality, financial outcomes, productivity, etc.) to maximize Ambulatory sites of service contribution to WVUH/UHA/SMG.

17. Actively participates in the development and attainment of organizational goals and objectives as they relate to the system organizational strategic mission and initiatives.

18. Oversight of the Ambulatory Services Scribe Program and provides support to WVUH/UHA/SMG for scribe services.

19. Provides leadership and assumes responsibility for multi-site system patient experience initiatives. Drive and foster a culture of patient-centered care, quality, and service excellent, while improving patient experience across the enterprise.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Financial, technical, and professional skills.

2. Oral and written communication skills to effectively represent the Ambulatory sites of service and hospital in interactions with third party payers, patients, physicians, and other departments.

3. Analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work and communicate effectively with other departments.

4. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to professional billing and collections. In addition, provider-based billing that affect professional and Hospital billing.

5. Skills in the areas of finance, business planning, strategic planning, marketing, program development and human resources.

6. Demonstrated ability to work with clinical leadership across the service lines, Hospital Administration, Physicians, and community providers throughout the region.

7. Experienced in team building, mentoring and business planning with excellent communication, emotional intelligence and negotiating and facilitating skills.

8. Demonstrated strong engagement and focused commitment to quality of care and service excellence.

9. Proven ability to be creative, innovative, and decisive. Adept in conflict resolution. Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and disciplines.

10. Comfort with risk taking.

11. Effective presentation skills.

12. Strong relationship skills to bridge clinical leadership departments, initiate new ideas and help determine a vision for Ambulatory Shared Services.

13. Excellent communication, analytical and customer service skills.

OVERSIGHT TO:

1. Works to clean up SER and grouper issues with providers in Epic.

2. Works to set up a clean enrollment process for incoming providers.

3. Ensures correct movement of Physicians in Epic.

4. Reviews and develops future patient experience initiatives and clinical needs to serve the WVUH/UHA/SMG community.

5. Sets up quality initiatives for WVUH/UHA/SMG.

6. Actively participates in the development and attainment of organizational goals and objectives as they relate to the organizational strategic mission and initiatives.

7. Reviews key performance indicators with CMO for quality, financial outcomes, productivity, etc. to maximize Ambulatory sites of service contribution to WVUH/UHA/SMG.

8. Oversight of the Ambulatory Services Scribe Program providing support to WVUH/UHA/SMG.
