Performs in conjunction with the RN, the functions of an LPN per the nursing standards in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating all assigned patient care given during a shift. The LPN is responsible for adhering to all Standards of Nursing Practice, for managing supplies and equipment with the direction of the RN and for promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel in other departments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.Graduate of a school of nursing with a current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of West Virginia.

2.AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.

2. AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.

EXPERIENCE:

1. One year of clinical experience.

1. Practices patient and family centered care to promote safety, quality and positive patient/family experience.

2. Provide direct nursing care including assessments to patients on the medsurg unit under supervision of the Registered Nurse.

3. Uses standards of care and standards of practice to guide care delivery.

4. Administers medications with RN supervision per West Virginia nursing standards.

5. Seeks guidance from the Registered Nurse in delivery of nursing care as necessary.

6. Obtains instruction and supervision as necessary from the Registered Nurse when implementing nursing technique or practices.

7. Interacts with various members of the health care team to meet patient care needs.

8. Performs evaluation of patient response to tasks performed.

9. Engages in exchange of information relevant to specific patient assignment.

10. Uses established patient care support systems including documentation, communication and information.

11. Participates in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.

12. Maintains and completes monthly competencies
