GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW:

The Batista Lab at the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard in Boston is seeking a Research Project Manager to oversee financial and administrative matters for a pre-clinical vaccine research program. The selected candidate will assist a dynamic team at the forefront of immunology in grant, personnel, and financial management. The ideal candidate will be familiar with both research and either financial analysis or grant administration.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Map immunology/pre-clinical vaccinology research program milestones and create a cross-project financial management plan in coordination with the PI.
  • Oversee use of grant funds, POS, and invoices.
  • Liaison with funders and manage meetings across departments and organizations.
  • Take responsibility for financial management of a portfolio of grants. Develops budgets, analyzes trends, produces reports.
  • Participate in grant and proposal writing alongside other lab personnel.
  • Assist in drafting NIH and internal compliance reporting.
  • Facilitate implementation of awards by collaborating with the MGH grant office, activating salary assignments to grants, and other associated tasks.
  • Assist researchers in personnel recruitment and onboarding.
Qualifications

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Previous experience with grant management OR lab management OR biotech project management required
  • Experience with immunological or vaccine research strongly preferred
  • Should have good interpersonal skills
  • Must communicate regularly and effectively with team members and PI

EDUCATION:

BS/BA required; MS preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • For BS/BA: 5+ years of related experience or
  • MS: 2-3+ years of related experience
  • Biotech or academic life sciences research background strongly preferred but project management experience from other fields considered.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

No direct oversight of individual lab members, but the Project Manager will consult with PI and senior researchers on lab member activities and assignments.
