WONDERY is looking for a Director of Content Partnerships & Talent Relations to join the rapidly growing team in Los Angeles. This role will be responsible for identifying new content partnership opportunities - including sourcing, analyzing, and negotiating these deals - as well as day-to-day management of these relationships. A successful candidate will proactively identify partnership opportunities, and take ownership of all deal-making and relationship management throughout the life cycle of a partner. This role will have strong relationship-management skills, and will be able to act as the face of the company with our external partners. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work with premium creators and companies to grow an established podcast network.

A Day In The Life
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Partnerships, this strategic partnerships executive will source new content partnership/acquisition opportunities, and will lead the deal-making process to close these partnerships. This person will also manage our content and talent partners, and will be responsible for maximizing revenue and growth potential for new and existing shows.

About The Team
Wondery is a premium podcast publisher known for character-driven, binge-worthy stories including The Apology Line, Even the Rich, American Scandal and Business Wars. Wondery's shows have gained critical acclaim and commercial success from an immersive approach to audio storytelling, which helps listeners to "Feel the Story." Ten of the Top 20 New Shows of 2020 were from Wondery, according to Podtrac, and an impressive 31 of Wondery's shows hit #1 on Apple Podcasts since 2017. Many Wondery series are being adapted for scripted television, including WeCrashed, The Shrink Next Door, and Dr. Death.

Additional Info
This is an individual contributor role, reporting to the Sr Director of Content Acquisitions and Talent Relations. There are currently 4 people on the Partnerships team, and the team is rapidly expanding.

Key Job Responsibilities
* Proactively recruit new partner shows and talent to be part of the Wondery network
* Work with all Wondery stakeholders (Exec Team, Sales Team, Content Team, Marketing Team) to develop and refine Wondery's ongoing strategy and target list for new partner shows
* Set goals and roadmap for partner shows, looking at genres / categories, audience segments, size of shows, monetization opportunity, etc. to meet Wondery's goals and related success metrics, including growth in revenue, monthly downloads, and unique listeners
* Lead the partnership process for key opportunities, owning all components from sourcing through negotiations and launch
* Stay up-to-date on industry news, emerging trends, competitive landscape & offerings, audio platforms, as well as top and emerging shows and creators
* Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, including revenue, DLs and audience metrics per show
* Attend industry events as required to develop ongoing relationships that will help achieve Wondery's long-term partnership goals
* 5+ years of professional work experience
* Candidate will have a BA/BS degree with at least 8+ years of overall work experience and at least 4 years experience in podcasts, content partnerships/business development, and/or agency background
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead meetings with high-level talent, as well as maneuver complicated relationships in the most professional manner
* A proactive 'problem solver' mentality, constantly looking around the corner to anticipate issues before they arrive
* An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high-stakes, while owning and taking accountability for partner show KPIs
* A strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency in your working manner, understanding that timeliness is essential when managing partner relationships
* An ability to implement and oversee effective procedures and company systems to scale the partnerships department and build out efficient communication channels between necessary departments at Wondery
* Rabid consumer of podcasts themselves and be familiar with the shows, content formats, talent, and new business models in the space
* Experience building financial models and using them to assess KPIs for a partner
* Experience at a leading podcast network, entertainment agency, or technology company
* Track record of launching and managing successful partnerships in the audio space
* An understanding of audio apps and podcast marketing and growth tactics, and an ability to operate effectively within the podcast ecosystem
